Letter to Santa

 Dear Santa,

I have been a very good person this year. Over time I have gotten stronger and kinder. During isolation I was helping out with the dishes, Cleaning my room and have been focused on my online work. Since we are back at school I started to miss staying at home, and being lazy in bed while on Zoom calls. I started to be less focused on my work, but after some time I became more focused on my work and started to become a better person. So please Santa come round to my house. I know you are scared to come round to my house because of covid but… You could wear a mask, use hand sanitiser and use my QR code. If you come round I would love for you to bring me gift cards, Nike Air training shoes, Ipad, Apple pen, Victoria Secret spray, notebook, gel pens, stickers from Typo and a happy family

Letter to Santa

 Dear Santa,

This year I haven't been the best person lately because... I haven't been listening to my mum, I haven't really been the kindest person to others, I've been talking on the mat at school and I haven't been focused on my work. Even though I have been bad I would love for you to come round to my home and bring me presents because, even though I don't always listen to my mum I love her no matter what. The way I see some other kids treat their mother isn't the right way, so I will remember to always listen to my mum when she tells me to do something. I would also love you to come over to my home and bring me presents because, even though I talk on the mat, I get into trouble. That’s a good thing because, then I will learn not to talk on the mat and I will be good in the future. Lastly even when I am not feeling happy, I will always try to be kind to others and make others happy. If you even bothered to even read my letter I would love for you to bring me an Ipad, Apple pen, gift cards, a Pandora bracelet, two slime kits, Glow in the dark slime, Nike jump suit, High heels,  roller skates and a notebook with pens and pencils so I can write and draw, and lastly a happy family 😊

My Landform reasearch

                                                                        Water falls:

Earthquakes, Volcanoes, and glaciers create waterfalls, too. They cause the land to shift. This changes the height in the bed of a river or a stream. With such a sudden change in height, a stream or river quickly becomes a waterfall. There are many types of waterfalls. Their names often describe how they look. Here are four: (1) Fan waterfalls fan out wide as they descend. (2) Block waterfalls descend in a wide sheet. (3) Tiered waterfalls drop in steps. (4)  Punch bowl waterfalls fall into a wide, round pool.

Volcanoes:

But what is a volcano? Sixty miles (97 km) beneath our feet lies a layer of hot, half - molten rock called the mantel. Enormous crustal plates, thousands of miles across, float like rafts on this ocean of soft stone. The plates fit together like a giant puzzle. They push against one another or pull apart, moving so slowly that they might take a hundred years or more to travel an inch. In certain parts of the world, the movement of the crustal plates causes cracks to form deeper underground, all the way to the mantle. Molten rocks called magma fills the cracks, rising up through the crust towards the surface of the earth.

Glaciers:

Most glaciers look like soldi walls rising from the sea. Some have been around for thousands of years. Cold temperatures keep glaciers solid. But heat is a glacier's enemy. Rising temperature can break glaciers apart. In cold temperatures, the water molecules slow down. They bond together to form a solid mass of ice. But as temperatures rise, the molecules start to move around more, and they start to break their bond. The warm water under glaciers heats up. Melted water on its top also thins the glacier. This can cause a glacier to crack. If the crack is big enough an iceberg is born.

Caves:

Caves are natural openings in the earth. Some are holes in the side of mountains. Others go hundreds of feet down into the ground. Sea caves form on the coast and in the water. Caves have tunnels and rooms. These are called chambers. Tunnels connect the chambers and caves form in rock. Most caves are formed by erosion. And erosion is when something is worn down over time. Wind and water erode rock. Most caves form from water erosion. Caves in karst are the most common. Karst is land made up of limestone.

Rivers:

Usually a river begins as a stream in the mountains. Water from rain and snow adds to it, It trickles. It flows down a mountain. Many fresh tributaries feed it. A wider river forms. As a river flows, it carries sediment. It carries rocks and pebbles. The larger the material is called a river's load. The river's load erodes the channel. It makes it deeper. A river's channel is the path it takes across the land. The land at the river's edge is called the riverbank. Flowing water erodes the riverbank. The water gets wider. Soil, rocks, and plant life also affect the river's shape.

Athletics day recount

Last Thursday we had a sports day and this is how my day went.

I was the captain of my team for sports. Mr Hadnett gave me a piece of cardboard with points on it. The cardboard had point numbers that the teachers could choose how many points my team got within that session.

Me and my team went to one of the rotations we had to do. First up was skipping. We did lots of skipping races and normal skipping. Overall I didn't really enjoy skipping because the instructions were confusing me and I didn't really understand what to do. When skipping was finished we moved onto the three legend race.

The three legged race was really fun. We had to get into partners and my partner was Rocio. Me and Rocio won first place every time but it was a bit tricky because when me and Rocio were walking to the finish line I nearly tripped and broke my ankle.when that session was finished my group said “Thankyou” and then we left to the next session

The next session was the sack race and the running race. First I had to get a partner, and my partner was Michael. I had to run to the bag and then come inside the potato bag. When we did it a couple of times it was finally finished. When it was finished we left for the next session.

The next session was throwing the gum boot. We had to throw the gumboot as far as we could. When I was throwing the gumboot it was really hard because my gum boot would only go two flags in front of me (which was not that far) Overall it was a bit fun I guess. Later on it was morning tea and we had to go and eat.

Once it was finished me and my group went to the egg on a spoon race. For this game there was an egg on a spoon and you had to see if your whole entire group can hold the egg on a spoon, while walking, giving it to the next person in your group without cracking the egg. My group did very well and it was really fun. Later on we had to move to another session which was long jump.

When we went to the long jump I had to take off my shoes.and then lineup so that it could be my turn to jump on the sand.I liked the long jump because all I had to do was jump as far as I could. Then later on we had to change sessions which caught the tail.

When we went to catch the tail Michael was the tagger he had to capture every body's tail. Michael did when eventually and it was really fun. When we were finished playing we went to another session which was throwing the bean bags in the bucket.

When we were starting to throw the bean bags into the buckets wA+_5e had to then stop and do a challenge. That challenge was to get the bean bags into all the buckets to take them out and win. When my team was trying to throw the bean bags in the bucket my team sadly lost but that was ok because at least we tried. When we were finished we had to go up to the library and I had to say prayers. Once I was finished saying prayers it was lunchtime so me and my friends went to go and play.

Later on me and my friends heard the bell so we went to where the library was. When we were near the library we got told that we had to go down the field. I watched everybody do sprints until… It was my turn to run!!! I was lining up in a line so I could race. When Mr Tea did this loud clap noise I ran! When I was running I took a quick glance at my family because they were on the edge of the field. I then ran and ran until I came first!! My heart was filled up with joy. I then got a card that said first place so I could give it to Mr Hadnett.

Overall it was finished and my favourite session was catching the tail and throwing the bean bags into the buckets. My highlight of that day was seeing my family on that day at school and having fun!!

If I were to thank God

If I were to thank God I would thank him for all the happy times I spent with loved ones, and for creating me and bringing me into this world.

During lockdown it was kind of boring but my family would always make me feel happy, and I would like to thank God for that.

I know I have made some bad decisions but God will always forgive me. Thank-you God for lowering the number of people with Coronavirus in New Zealand, and for keeping my family and friends safe.

Thank You God for creating people that make me smile and make me feel like I'm not alone. Even though 2020 has been a really rough year I would like to thank God for helping me get through it all.

My journey and Goals

This week me and my class have been thinking about our goals. These are my goals that I did on a google drawing.

How are waterfalls created?

A waterfall is a place where water flows down a

They only fall down at a certain time.

Waterfalls are good for us people because waterfalls create oxygen

Waterfalls can create rivers or lakes.

How much water falls are in New zealand?

What would happen if we had no waterfalls?

People like waterfalls. But, be careful. Waterfalls are powerful! Some are not safe to swim or hike near.

Water falls are caused by erosion. As water flows, it carries sediment such as sand and rocks.

A waterfall is a place where water rushes down a steep ledge. The water flows from higher land, then it falls down a big step of rock to lower land of softer rock where it will continue on its journey.

Tourists in the woods!!!

 Characters

 Eldest Daughter (Rita)

 Dog (Roxy)

 Mum (Lucy)

Youngest Daughter (Lena)

Once upon a time there lived a mother with two children named Rita and Lena they also had a dog who they rescued named Roxy. They were  visiting France but they came from the city San Francisco. It was a wet day but luckily they found a cabin next to the woods. Once it was night time Rita and Lena heard something in the distance, so while everyone was sleeping they snuck out but then SUDDENLY… They both tripped while going outside and they got a really big bruise!! Their dog then woke up and quietly followed them. They were so scared that their Mum would wake up. As they were walking, they got further and further from the cabin but they didn't realise that. They found nothing in the woods but they didn't know what to do so they slept in the woods. When they woke up they saw Roxy. Lena said “ ROXY your here how did you find us? I'm so happy that you're here with us”!!!

Rita then said “ Roxy? How did you get here?”. They were both confused and happy at the same time because Roxy was there with them. They started to try to find their way back home, but when they did all they ended up with were bruises and scars. The mud was very slippery and they kept on tripping and falling. Once it was night time again their stomachs started to rumble because they were SO hungry. Later on they fell asleep but while they were sleeping their dog Roxy could not go to sleep so he ran away. The next day came by, Lena and Rita were so worried because Roxy was not there with them any more so they tried to find him. They walked and walked for a very long time but still no sign of Roxy. Later on at night they found a cozy spot so they decided to rest on it. Then later on Lena woke up in the middle of the night. She started to hear footsteps and she got very scared. She was trying to go back to bed but it was no use. Then she woke up Rita and they were both holding each other very tight. Then Roxy came!!!

Lena said “Roxy your back with mum!!” Lena and Rita were so happy to have their family back together. Their mother was very angry but also happy because she had her family back together. Lena and Rita’s Mother said “Why did you wonder in the woods?” Then Lena and Rita explained everything and then they went back to their home and lived happily ever after.

Room 1's favourite Sport

This is a graph the number of people who like which sport. On my graph I have Netball, Basketball, Touch Rugby and Other. Five people chose netball, nine chose people Basketball, four people chose Touch and ten people chose Other. I think that some people chose netball because they were girls. Netball was traditionally a girls sport. I think nine people chose Basketball because it makes you good at jumping and throwing. Also Basketball is a fast game.

Princess and the frog narrative writing

Once upon a time there lived a beautiful princess. One day her father called her to come into his room, She went inside and then what was in her father's hands was a beautiful golden ball. The father said “This is a present for you my daughter” and he gave the princess the golden ball.

The princess loved the ball and she started to walk around with it everywhere, until one day she was playing with her ball until it suddenly dropped and started to roll. It dropped and sunk all the way into the pond and the princess started crying until a frog leaped next to the princess. The frog said “Hello my beautiful princess. Is everything alright?” The princess started and got quite scared because she had never seen a talking frog before. The princess said “No I'm not alright because I was playing with my golden ball that my father got me. Then it started rolling into the pond and sank all the way down. The frog felt bad for her so he asked the princess “My beautiful princess I have an offer for you. If I go and get your golden ball will you promise me to let me live in the castle with you?” The princess went silent and thought about it and then she nodded and waited for the frog to get her golden ball. The frog got all happy and jumped into the pond to get her golden ball. Once he had the ball he gave it to the princess and the princess wiped her tears away and started to walk happily back to the castle. When the princess was walking the frog then said “My princess, haven't you forgotten our offer?” The princess stopped then she turned and looked at the frog and started to laugh. The princess said “Do you really think you were going to live in a beautiful castle with me. You are way to ugly to live in my castle”. The frog then suddenly got very sad and walked away.

The next day came by and the princess and her father and mother were having a lovely dinner until… they heard a knock on their door. It was the maid saying that a frog said the princess invited him to come inside. The father said to the princess “What is going on?” The princess explained what happened yesterday. Then the king said “Bring the frog inside” The maid opened the door for the frog, The frog leaped onto the table and said “hello fellow people '' The king ordered the maid to make the frog a plate of food. The maid was about to leave and make the food until the frog denied and said “No thank you my king I can eat off the princesses plate” So he gobbled up while the princess stared at her plate while it got empty. It was finally time to go to bed. When the princess was brushing her hair before bed the frog got tired and said “My princess I am getting tired. I am going to sleep on your bed if you don't mind. So he fell asleep on the princesses soft pillow. When the frog woke up he woke up the princess too “Good morning my beautiful princess. My princess I have one more wish from you, If you do that I will leave right away”.  The princess listened and said “deal”.  The frog said “My beautiful princess I want you to kiss me and I will go away forever”. The princess looked in disgust and thought about it. She then said “Ok you promise you will go away”. The frog said “yes my beautiful princess”. So the princess picked up the frog and kissed him on the lips THEN SUDDENLY a bright light came and then instead of a frog it was a young handsome prince standing there. The princess was in shock. She said “Where did the frog go?” The prince explained everything he said “My beautiful princess. I am a prince in a kingdom far far away, a witch came one day and casted a spell on me, she told me that I have to find a princess, stay with her overnight and get a kiss from her. Thanks to you I am the prince I was meant to be” The princess took the prince down stairs and explained everything to her father then she said “Father is it ok if I stay with this Prince in a kingdom far far away?” Her father said “Yes my daughter you can go, you are all grown up now” The princess and the prince left for his kingdom.

They got married and live happily ever after.
